Quotes are life changing... if you remember them.

MyQuotes is built on one idea: if you memorize quotes, then you can train your brain to think in quotes.

★★★★★ 5.0 on the App Store · Free to download

Save it. We'll help you remember it.

That's the whole promise. Every feature in this app exists to keep it. Every feature is supported with a quote or backed by research and the bible.

It also lives on your home screen
MyQuotes home screen widget showing the quote: Take care of the minutes and the years will take care of themselves.
MyQuotes home screen widget showing the quote: If necessary, for years. If necessary, alone.
MyQuotes home screen widget showing the quote: Have the courage to imagine your life going well.

Here's the mechanism behind that.

What actually happens to a quote Memory strength Time Read once, then forgotten Practiced with MyQuotes

Every dot represents a notification you'll get. After you save a quote, you'll receive it as a notification 7 times over the next 7 days. This spaced repetition helps you memorize it.

This graph also represents the Daily Memory Quiz: one tap gives you feedback on whether you've forgotten the quote, which taps into effortful retrieval, another proven memory retention practice.

Problems we aim to solve

The problem isn't a lack of good advice.

Most people who are struggling have already heard the quote, bible verse, or affirmation that could help them. The problem is that they forget those words within seconds. It's known as the forgetting curve. We solve that with MyQuotes.

Negative self-talk

The thoughts you repeat most become the thoughts you believe most. Almost no one interrupts that pattern on purpose, because almost no one is handed a practical way to. Until now.

A hard season feels permanent

Quotes help you understand adversity, anxiety, and ambition. Without quotes, adversity feels never ending, anxiety feels unsolvable, and ambition feels like negative self-talk. When remembered, quotes accomplish this by reframing a person's perspective.

You saved it. You didn't remember it.

Someone might say, "I already screenshot quotes as I come across them." Ask yourself, do you remember any of the quotes you've screenshotted? Someone might say, "I already save quotes in my notes app." Ask yourself, do you remember any of the quotes saved to your notes app?

Declining attention

You can recover the attention you've lost with Mindfulness Minutes. It's grounded in the research of Dr. Amishi Jha, who wrote Peak Mind. As the minutes scale, you have no choice but to spend time away from your phone and meditate, remember quotes, visualize, read, or start your assignment.

Our approach

Proactive, not reactive.

You don't study for a test on exam day, and you shouldn't try to save someone's life only on the day they're ready to take it. The work has to happen before that point. We teach people how to understand their mindset and how to appreciate the one life they get to live. Their only task is to save quotes as they come across them, and revisit the app, so it can execute on its promises to train their brain to think in quotes and recover their attention.

MyQuotes is not a replacement for medication or therapy where those are needed. We are not a crisis service, and we don't position ourselves as one. We hope to be a preventative tool. Something people can turn to, so fewer people ever reach the point where professional care or medication feels like their only options.

How this is different

Most quote apps stop at the quote.

Other quote apps

Hand you a quote and move on to the next one.

MyQuotes

Pairs every quote with a short "Why This Matters" note, so you understand why it's worth remembering.

Other quote apps

Let you save your own quotes as a side feature, tucked behind their quotes.

MyQuotes

Is built around your library first. Saving quotes isn't an afterthought, it's the whole point. This makes notifications something you look forward to receiving.

Other quote apps

Assume reading something once is enough to change your mindset.

MyQuotes

Uses proven memory retention techniques (notifications and the Daily Memory Quiz) so you remember the quotes you save, and challenges you to describe how the quote will change how you think, how you talk to yourself, or how you act.

Other quote apps

Don't offer feedback based on a user's behavior.

MyQuotes

Has a Dashboard that shows you, visually, whether you're actually giving the app a chance to work. No hiding from your own consistency.

★★★★★

"Having a collection of quotes to be able to come back to. To one better remember them and to be able to remind myself of them. Then to be able to share great quotes and recall. So many things to be excited about really awesome."

Example from the quote library.

"All of humanity's problems stem from man's inability to sit quietly in a room alone."

Blaise Pascal

Why This Matters

Mindfulness Minutes documents the time you've set aside to sit, think, visualize, breathe, and remember quotes. You're documenting and building the ability to sit quietly in a room alone.

If you want to know why.

Solving Suicide in 23 Minutes lays out the theory behind this app in full: the research, including Dr. Thomas Joiner's work on why people die by suicide, and the personal story behind why MyQuotes was built in the first place. It's a longer, more personal read, so it lives on its own site.

If you're evaluating MyQuotes as a resource to recommend.

MyQuotes solves four problems: people do not speak to themselves kindly, people do not understand the different seasons of their life, people do not remember quotes, and people have lost their ability to focus. Building a library of quotes, spending time away from your phone, seeing the progress you're making, and receiving quotes with context are the solutions.

solvingsuicide.com tells you why the app was built. This page tells you the logic behind how the app works.

It did not make sense to identify quotes as a game changer without providing a way for people to remember them, so Brandon Ubiera, MyQuotes' solo founder, got to work. That's why this app exists. We do not know if people will take action on the quotes they've saved, which is why the app is fully functional and free. Only after someone decides the app is valuable to them do they make a paid commitment.

We're happy to share more details about the app, make in-person presentations, or walk through how the app works. Looking forward to hearing from you.
